The Sound of History, 31st edition !
An inimitable time machine! On Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be the setting for the 31st edition of the Spa Six Hours, a historic meeting that will review all the eras, all the disciplines and all the trends in motor sport on the circuit! From the Grand Prix cars of the '30s to the F1 cars of the '70s and '80s, not forgetting the F2s, F3s, Formula Juniors, prototypes, sports cars, GTs and touring cars, Roadbook will be putting on a colourful show with an incomparable soundtrack for three days...
With a headliner that bears the name of the event, the famous Spa Six Hours Endurance race, a final firework display scheduled for Saturday between 3.50pm and 9.50pm! More than 80 cars will line up on the grid, including around twenty Ford GT40s! The Le Mans legend will obviously be the favourite... but watch out for the Jaguar E-Types and Lotus Elan 26Rs, which are capable of pulling off all sorts of surprises, as we saw again last year! The line-up will also include Aston Martins, Ginettas, Gilberns, Porsches, Marcos, Ford Mustangs, Falcons and Galaxies, Shelby Cobras, TVR Griffiths and Granturas, Turner, Triumphs, MGs, Morgans and others, Dario and Marino Franchitti, André Lotterer, Alex Brundle, Chris Harris, Rob Huff, Phil Keen, Michael Lyons, Nico Verdonck, Eric van de Poele, Jim Farley, Vanina Ickx, Olivier Muytjens, Brice Pineau, etc. are confirmed. It's going to be some sport for half a lap!
The other mainstay of Spa Six Hours 2024 is the single-seaters! The Pre-War Sports Cars of the '30s, with the Alfa Romeo 8C Monza, Delahaye, Aston Martin, Bentley, Talbot Lago, Alvis, Riley, Frazer Nash and others, will tell the story of the Grand Prix before the birth of the world championship. The first legends of this global competition, the Maserati 250 F, Lotus 18 and 25, Ferrari 246 Dino, BRM P261, Brabham BT3, 4, 7 or 14... and many others will form the line-up of the unmissable Historic Grand Prix Cars Association.
As for the '70s and '80s, they are brought together in a Masters Racing Legends line-up of the highest calibre, featuring Lotus, Williams, Tyrrell, McLaren, Brabham, Arrows, Fittipaldi, Ligier, March, Shadow, Hesketh, Ensign, LEC, Theodore and Trojan. Thierry Boutsen (three-time Grand Prix winner, Shadow), Nick Padmore (former historic F1 champion), Christophe and Werner D'Ansembourg, as well as Victor Jabouille, son of the late Jean-Pierre Jabouille, and Stéphane De Groodt, Belgian comedian and actor with an impressive artistic career, who will be driving a 1974 ex-Wisell March 741. Not to be missed...
Single-seater fans will be delighted by the presence of the F2 and F3 Classic Interseries grids, featuring March, Ralt, Martini, Chevron, Argo, Dallara and other cars from the 1970s (with a certain Tristan Gommendy starting in F3), but also Historic Formula Junior, whose single-seaters, which ensured the transition between the '50s and the '60s, were often the fruit of ingenious craftsmen such as Stanguellini, Elva, Alexis, Condor, Valpini, U2, Branca, Donford, Gemini, Britannia, Caravelle, Lynx, and so on. All in the midst of more conventional Lotus, Lola and Brabham!
The Masters Sports Car Legends will see a parade of impressive prototypes, such as the Lola T70, McLaren M1B, Chevron B16, B19 and B36, etc., which have in fact succeeded the Woodcote Trophy & Stirling Moss Trophy stars such as the Jaguar C-Type and D-Type, Lotus XI, XV and 17, Lola Mk1 Prototype, etc., on the endurance scene. As for the most recent stars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, they will be grouped together in the Masters Endurance Legends & GT Trophy series, with a mix of Peugeot 90X, Pescarolo LMP1, Reynard 2KQ, BR01, Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra, Corvette C7.R, Dodge Viper GTS-R, Ferrari 430 and 488, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, etc.
Grand Touring and Tourism will share the limelight in the Gentlemen Drivers & Pre-66 TC Masters, with Ferrari 250 GT, Jaguar E-Type, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, Ford Mustang and Falcon... among others!
The line-up is rounded off perfectly by the Classic Sports Car Club, which will see MG, Triumph, Austin Healey, Ford Cortina Lotus, Mini Marcos, Lotus Elan, TVR Griffith and Tuscan, as well as Datsun 240 Z all competing.
With no less than... 19 races on the programme (ranging from 25 minutes to 6 hours!), Spa Six Hours 2024 is unlikely to experience the slightest downtime. And that's something that fans of racing cars from the olden days are sure to love.
On Thursday 26 September, access to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be completely free, allowing the public to enjoy practice sessions and even a race, all between 9.00am and 9.05pm!
